Lynne Silver's Desperate Match Blog Tour

Title: Desperate Match
Author: Lynne Silver
Series: Coded for Love #5
Genre: Adult Fantasy Romance
Publication: March 27, 2014

Abused wife, Jill Thompson knows she has to get out of her bad marriage. Like yesterday. With no money, no job and no friends, this small town girl can’t find a safe harbor. But when she sees a news report that The Program, a US military base, is seeking women to be matches for their genetically enhanced soldiers, she sees her opportunity. If she is lucky enough to be a match, her snake-mean husband, Jack, won’t be able to find her, let alone hurt her ever again.

Rowan Blacker, is the only soldier of his cohort to request a breed match. He’s the newest soldier on campus and thanks to his genetic defect, he feels like an outcast. Matching and breeding with a woman will help him fit in with the team. Unfortunately Rowan’s match is nothing like the sexy, fun woman he was hoping to romance. The woman they claim is his perfect DNA match, is a scared shell of a woman carrying a trunkful of emotional baggage. Against their better judgment, they move in together and as Jill shakes off the shackles of abuse, their attraction ignites.

Desperate Match is the fifth installment in the Coded for Love series.  Even though this novel is part of a series, you can still read this as a standalone.  Each book focuses on a different soldier and his match, but the characters that were the focus in the other novels are still part of the story.  In this novel, we meet another hot soldier named Rowan.  Rowan decides that he wants to be matched to someone.  The soldiers in this series are genetically enhanced.  They are tall and strong which makes them very useful going against the enemy.  The soldiers are DNA matched to a partner.   Down the road, they give birth to future genetically enhanced soldiers.

A lot of the genetically enhanced soldiers already have someone and Rowan feels alone.  Rowan decides to sign up to get matched.  Jill hears about the Program through the media and decides to sign up to be matched to a soldier.  Rowan and Jill end up getting matched.  There was a little bit of awkwardness when they first meet.  Jill did admit to Rowan that his missing arm bothered her.  At first it ticked off Rowan, as this has been a sensitive subject for him for his whole life.  Then he learned that Jill was running away from her abusive husband.  When her husband learns where she went, he still made things difficult for her by telling the media she was brainwashed by The Program.

Even though at the beginning Rowan wasn't sure what was in store for the future between him and Jill, he stood by her.  Rowan is so good to Jill and he knew he had to protect her.  Knowing Jill was still very fragile, he was very patient with her.  He didn't rush her or force her into anything.  He allowed her to set the pace with things between them.  This tough soldier was very gentle with her. Even though Jill has been through a lot physically and emotionally, she's very smart.  She went for the first opportunity that was out there to start over.  She had the advantage of being protected on base and by the soldiers.

What I like is that this group is like a really close knit family and help one another out.  Since Jill's family wasn't close by, they became her second family.  Rowan and a couple of the soldiers went to serve the divorce papers to Jill's husband, which did not go well.  This made her husband aware of what he is going to be dealing with if he comes near her.  When Jill decided to go to the media to let them know the truth about herself and The Program, one of the soldier's significant other worked with Jill in preparing for what to expect.

I enjoyed reading this installment and encourage you to not only read this one, check out the other ones as well!  I look forward to reading the sixth novel, hopefully there will be one!

****4.5 Stars****

Engineered with superior strength, agility and acumen, the genetically enhanced soldiers of the top secret Program do the dangerous assignments no one else can. Now, they’re tasked with one additional job. Breed.

But finding and convincing their perfect DNA match they are the right men for the job may be their most dangerous mission to date. And the hottest. Good thing, they’re Coded for Love.

About Lynne

By day, Lynne Silver lives the suburban soccer mom life; volunteering with the PTA, doing laundry and working. By night she enters the sensuous world of alpha males and passionate heroines. She calls the nation’s capital home and lives in an old fixer-upper with her husband and their two sons. When not writing romance, she reads it. Lots of it. Over and over and over again, preferably with a bag of M&Ms in hand.
