Scene 1
The urge to just touch her, not to inflict pain or consume
her, grabbed me around the back of the throat. I looked over my shoulder. She
stood not far away. Her hair whipping around her as the helicopter ascended
into the sky and her skirt torn from my rough handling. If I looked closer, I
saw the faint crinkle of where my hands had marred her blazer, and the redness
of the tie burn around her wrists.
Scene 2
He struck almost tenderly but it still
hurt like a bitch. I cried out as the tiny tails and beads of the whip kissed
my skin with red hot licks. The pain radiated like an earthquake from an
epicentre and Q kept touching me, kept stroking till the pain threaded with the
sensation of his fingers and I no longer knew what pain was. It was all
delicious. Nothing but pleasure.
MY REVIEW
This is one of those series you must read the first novel to understand the second. I do want to note that this is a dark romance. There are events that can be, suspenseful, horrific, and violent. But, there are a lot of OMG, very hot, seductive and sweet moments as well.
I'm one of those readers who loves both the views of the hero and heroine (you may hear me say this a lot too.) Tears of Tess we had all of what was going through the mind of Tess. Quintessentially Q gives us both Tess and Q's thoughts, but Q is more of the star of this show.
I enjoy reading what is going through the mind of Quincy "Q" Mercer. Q is French, so you will hear a lot of French phrases. If you don't understand it, they do mention the English translation (no need for Google!) You may want to try to imagine while reading Q narrating with his French accent (could be very sexy!) I felt how much Q does love Tess and wants to express it to her, but it's something he's not familiar with and has never shown to anyone else. I felt that he does so much want to show and attempt to express how much he does love her. Yes, he can be domineering and intimidating, but he is a very caring man. Q will go to great lengths to right the wrongs and protect Tess.
Tess really loves Q. Her relationship with him is different than what she has had with her ex, Brax. With Brax, things were gentle, not so rough. With Q, he's rough, does things that Tess has never experienced before. He's very dominating, inflicts pain on Tess, and Tess really enjoys that from him. Tess is going to depend on Q more than ever this time around. There are going to be some demons that haunt Tess that Q may have to find unorthodox ways to help her battle them.
Pepper Winters has done an amazing job constructing Quintessentially Q. She was very descriptive in the what is going on in the minds of Tess, and especially Q. She showed the kind of "monster" Q can be, but shows how big his heart can be for those he loves. I truly enjoyed reading Quintessentially Q and really look forward to Twisted Together!
