This is another great novel by Cassia Leo! Black Box is a much darker novel compared to
what I’ve read in the past of Cassia’s. Mikki
and Crush are both broken individuals who have so many emotions and demons
running through them. However, it is such a beautiful love story that
was hard for me to put down. While
reading, I couldn’t help but adore Crush and Mikki and the relationship these
two have. Both have been through so much
in their lives and I believe it’s fate that brought them together.
Mikki does suffer from mental illness and had something
horrific happen to her in the past.
Crush blames himself for something horrible that happened in his past. These two continue to battle these demons
that linger in their minds. These two
have encountered one another a couple times a few years ago. In Crush and Mikki’s previous encounters,
these two unknowingly have helped the other out. When Crush and Mikki meet again, they both
seem familiar to one another, but don’t recall that meeting right away. They spend more time together, getting to
know one another and eventually realize how they met, while helping the other
out, again!
I love how Crush is so patient and understanding with
Mikki. With Mikki’s traumatic past,
there are a lot of things that are not comfortable to her. Crush doesn’t force or rush her into
anything. He’s allowing her to do things
at a pace that is comfortable to her. You
feel that he really cares for her and really never stopped caring for her right
after he first met her.
Some could say it’s just pure coincidence that these two
have had more than one encounter. Like I
mentioned before, I do believe it’s fate that brought these two together. These two are meant to help one another, to
help heal from their past. If you aren’t
a believer in fate, I think there is a possibility that this novel could change
your mind!
